Here are a few of the best places to learn how to code for free in Atlanta.
Jr Devs
This community is open to developers at the early stages of their coding journey. Jr Devs has monthly meetups where members can hone their skills, present their work, and learn from other developers. Jr Devs promotes an inclusive community, so you’ll find a lot of support even if you’re not so certain about your coding skills. Jr Devs recommends bringing a laptop so you can get advice on projects you’re working on.
PyAtl: Atlanta Python Programmers
Attend their monthly meetings for all your Python needs. PyAtl is open to all skill levels and has tailored events for beginners and deep dives into more advanced topics for veteran Python programmers. PyAtl has monthly jam sessions where members can get advice on projects and workshop their skills. The group has created resources to learn Python and maintains a Consulting List for employers seeking Python programmers.

Tech Talent South – Atlanta
Tech Talent wants more developers and programmers in the South. One way to do that is through an active Meetup group. Tech Talent South – Atlanta has events for all skill levels. Even children are welcome with regular family events empowering children interested in STEM to pursue their passion.
Women Who Code Atlanta
The nationwide group empowering women in tech has a very active Atlanta Meetup group. Women Who Code Atlanta hosts regular events that include networking opportunities, open houses, technical presentations, and study sessions. There are also social events where you can hang out with your fellow coders and programmers. All events are free and Women Who Code also has a jobs board if you’re a programmer or engineer looking a new opportunity.
Flatiron School
No list of best places to learn how to code for free in Atlanta would be complete without Flatiron School. At least, we think so. No, we know so. We work hard to build a community in every city that has a campus, even if you’re not enrolled in our coding bootcamp. Our Atlanta Meetup Group is no exception, and we are fostering strong relationships in Atlanta’s tech scene to make it even better. It also helps with our Career Services relationship for those who attend an event and decide they want to attend Flatiron.
We have regular events — from interesting talks to study sessions to panels promoting diversity in tech. All events are free! And we hope to see you at one soon!
