Google-Maps-for-Rails is a really neat gem which allows you to utilize the Rails MVC framework without sacrificing the front-end JS functionality of Google-Maps.
The deck includes a brief overview of how to map all NYC public pools listed on NYCOpenData. Because each pool, along with its coordinates and other attributes, is saved as an object instance in Active Record, this app is completely scalable.
I used NYC public pools as a completely arbitrary example. If you have any geolocation-based data, I encourage you to use Google-Maps-for-Rails to map it!
